Biking, good way of meeting people, allowed me in 1986 to discover the charm of Amsterdam and its old fashion bikes. I quickly recommended these comfortable bikes to my friends.
From my trips, I brought different kinds of bikes and spare parts to offer a complete service to my guests who wanted to discover the Loire Valley by a bike.
In 1991, the French train company (SNCF) stopped renting bikes.

In 1993, we made the decision to open a shop of Dutch bikes.
In 1994, Amstercycles rents bikes at the main Tours train station.
From 1994 to 2000, during the dead season, I did different biking trips (North America, Cuba, New-Zealand, Morocco…) to get experience in order to better understand the tourists’ expectations in the Loire Valley.
In 1999, in order to satisfy his clients’ needs, Amstercycles opens a bike rental shop (with more than 200 bikes of all different sorts) at 5 Rue du Rempart, next to the Tours train station.
In 2001, Amstercycles opens a bike rental shop close to the train station in Blois.
In 2004, Amstercycles opens an agency in Saumur, between the Office Tourist and the train station as well as different rental locations at Beaugency, Amboise, Villandry, Langeais, Chinon and Angers. These different rental places enabled us to create a rental net of more than 200 km in the Loire.
In 2005, Amstercycles change its name and became DETOURS DE LOIRE.
